I grew up in Miami Beach Florida and when I was 15 my father gave me his camera so that I could see what it was like to shoot a picture. Along with the camera he also gave me a hand held light meter and simple instructions on what to do with it. He let me loose to go shoot my first role of film. My dad’s favorite place to take pictures was at the beach. I guess we had a lot in common. When I got that first role of film back and saw what I had shot, I was hooked. It was a great first experience so I kept with it. Being a surfer in Miami didn’t really cut it so at the age of 15 I took my camera and back pack and hitch hiked to California. Whenever I traveled to a place that had great surf I always made it a priority to take a couple of shots that would tell a story of how incredible it was and to show my friends the surf that they were missing. At that time in my life taking photos was more about making my friends jealous of all the cool surf that they weren’t getting.

Shooting all the surfing destinations was my way of sharing my experience with others. After a short period of time I had built up a collection of awesome images from all the surf trips I took. Shooting film wasn’t exactly cheap. Someone told me my photos looked good enough to go into the surf magazines and I might even be able to make a dollar. I was talked into showing someone my portfolio and was hired instantly to be a staff photographer for a small surf magazine.

I had countless photos published in a short amount of time but there was one particular spread that caught the photo editor’s eye from Surfer Magazine. He gave me a personal invite to bring anything that I wanted to show him. Needless to say 21 years later I am still a staff photographer for the magazine and have traveled to almost every destination and exotic location.

I have photographed and archived images from all over the world shooting anything that had to do with the beauty of that location. I have met so many people and have built a name for myself in the Surf world. Surf Photography is a passion of mine. It has got to be one of the most challenging and rewarding of all types of photography.

I decided to expand my photography into other areas. After shooting people I saw the joy I brought to them and how effortless it is. I enjoy making people happy. My style is different and refreshing. I find it just as rewarding shooting children and families. Photography is not just a job to me, it’s my PASSION.
